COMPARE THE MIXERS

How to choose a kitchen mixer

Como or Porto: the differences that matter at the sink.

Pull-out or fixed spout

The Porto pull-out head rinses the whole sink and switches between stream and spray. The Como spout swivels 360° and has fewer moving parts.

Height and clearance

Porto: 436 mm tall, 237 mm under the spout, 226 mm reach. Como: 340 mm tall, 190 mm under the spout, 220 mm reach. Check under the window sill.

Water pressure

The Como is rated 50 to 800 kPa. The Porto needs 150 to 500 kPa, so it suits mains pressure only; above 500 kPa your plumber fits a pressure-limiting valve.

Fitting

Both fit one 35 mm tap hole and connect with ½″ BSP flexible hoses to isolation valves. A licensed plumber installs them.

Kitchen mixer questions

Do I need a plumber to fit a kitchen tap?

Yes. A licensed plumber installs it to AS/NZS 3500, and licensed installation is a condition of the warranty.

What is the standard sink tap hole size in Australia?

Both of our kitchen mixers need a single Ø35 mm tap hole in the sink or benchtop. Measure yours before you order.

Does the Porto's hose go back by itself?

Yes. A counterbalance on the hose under the sink draws the head back to the spout, and you can adjust how far it pulls out.

Are bathroom taps the same as kitchen taps?

Not usually: a kitchen mixer has a taller spout and more reach for pots. The Como reaches 220 mm and the Porto 226 mm, against 140–180 mm on our Vienna basin mixers.

Is the Como lead-free?

Yes. The Como is Lead Free WaterMark certified in all six finishes, with no more than 0.25% weighted average lead in the parts that touch drinking water.

Kitchen tapware: two designs, for different sinks

Our kitchen tapware is a short list: two mixers, the Como and the Porto, each made in six finishes. That is the whole range, so the choice is mostly pull-out or fixed spout, then colour. Both sit on a single Ø35 mm tap hole, have DZR brass bodies and Citec ceramic cartridges, and carry WaterMark licence WM-022467.

Pull out sink mixer: the Porto

The Porto has a pull-out head with two spray modes, and it resets to stream when you turn it off. A counterbalance on the hose under the sink draws the head back to the spout. It reaches 226 mm, leaves 237 mm under the spout for tall pots, and stands 436 mm overall, so check the height under a window sill or shelf.

It needs 150 to 500 kPa. That suits mains pressure but not a low-pressure hot water system; low-pressure hot water and mixer taps explains what to measure. It's rated WELS 4 Star at 6.5 L/min.

Fixed swivel spout: the Como

The Como has a fixed spout that swivels 360°, with 220 mm of reach and 190 mm under the spout. At 340 mm tall it is 96 mm lower than the Porto. It works from 50 to 800 kPa, is rated WELS 5 Star at 6.0 L/min, is Lead Free WaterMark certified, and has fewer moving parts than a pull-out.

Which kitchen tap suits your sink?

Pick the Porto when you rinse sink corners and fill pots on the bench, and the Como for a lower window, lower water pressure or a simpler tap. In matte black, brushed brass or gunmetal either one reads as an accent against a pale benchtop; in chrome or brushed nickel it sits back. How to choose a kitchen mixer covers reach and clearance in more detail.

Installation, cartridges and warranty

A licensed plumber fits either mixer to AS/NZS 3500, connecting the flexible hoses to your hot and cold isolation valves. Keep the space under the sink clear of bins so the Porto's hose moves freely. We supply replacement cartridges, and leaking tap or weak flow? helps tell a worn cartridge from a blocked aerator.

Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty). Taps and showers must be installed by a licensed plumber for the warranty to apply.
