What size round mirror suits my vanity?

We generally recommend the largest size that’s no wider than your vanity. When in doubt, size up, if the space allows it; if a side wall, tiles or the door make it tight, go one size down. A round mirror can look right a little narrower. The Amalfi comes in 600, 700, 800, 1000 and 1200 mm across, with 1500 mm made to order; the Amalfi Ambient goes up to 800 mm, and the framed Amalfi and Capri are 800 mm. A round mirror is as tall as it is wide, so check the wall height above the tap too. Mirror size guide.

Do these mirrors plug in, or do I need an electrician?

There’s no plug. Every LED mirror here is hardwired, so a licensed electrician connects it to a 220–240 V supply on the wall behind the mirror. Ask for the supply near the centre of where the mirror will hang, and if you’re renovating, settle that before the wall is sheeted or tiled. How high should it hang above the tap?

Leave 100–200 mm between the top of the tap (or splashback) and the bottom of the mirror, and never less than 100 mm. With a tall basin mixer, measure from the top of the spout. A round mirror’s lowest point is the centre of its curve, so that’s the point to measure to. Decide the height before your licensed electrician runs the cable, because the supply sits behind the mirror. Our mirror height guide has the full drawing.

Backlit or front-lit: which round mirror is better for make-up and shaving?

The framed Amalfi is front-lit: the light comes through the mirror face towards you, which suits close grooming. The Amalfi, Amalfi Ambient and Capri are backlit, with a soft halo on the wall behind the glass that’s flattering but less direct, so pair them with a downlight over the vanity. Which round mirrors have a frame to match my tapware?

The Capri has a frame in Matte Black, Antique Brass, Brushed Brass and Brushed Nickel, the same finish names as our tapware. The framed Amalfi comes in Gold, Silver and Black; those are frame colours, so compare them with your tap in person. The Amalfi and Amalfi Ambient are frameless. Matching mirror frames to tapware.
