COMPARE THE FINISHES

Chrome or another finish?

How chrome compares with the finishes people usually look at next, and what it’s like to live with.

Chrome or brushed nickel?

Both are silver. Chrome is brighter and cooler. Brushed nickel has a soft brushed texture and a slightly warm cast, so water spots and fingerprints show less. See brushed nickel.

Chrome or stainless steel?

Our chrome taps, showers and wastes are chrome on brass. The towel rails, hooks, roll holders, glass hardware and door hardware in this finish are polished 304 stainless steel, made to match.

Looking after it

Wipe it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry it. Acid, chlorine and abrasive cleaners damage any finish, and that damage isn’t covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Matching the whole room

Every design comes in chrome, so the mixer, shower, waste, towel rail and door handle can all match. No mirror frame is made in chrome; a frameless mirror is the safest pairing.

Chrome questions

Is a stainless steel or chrome tap better?

They're different things: chrome is a bright plated finish, and on our taps it sits over a DZR brass body. Our chrome accessories and hardware are polished 304 stainless steel.

What not to clean chrome with?

Acid, chlorine, abrasive pads and cream cleaners. Use warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry it; damage from harsh cleaners isn't covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Chrome or brushed nickel?

Both are silver. Chrome is brighter and cooler and suits a crisp white room; brushed nickel is softer and shows fewer water spots.

How do I clean chrome shower door fittings?

Wipe the hinges, clamp and knobs with warm soapy water and a soft cloth when you clean the glass, then dry them. Keep acidic or abrasive cleaners off the metal.

Can I get my whole bathroom in chrome?

Yes: every design comes in chrome, from mixers and showers to wastes, accessories, screen hinges and door hardware.

Chrome tapware, the classic bright finish

Chrome tapware is the mirror-bright, cool option, for a crisp white bathroom where the taps should catch the light rather than add colour. All 24 of our designs come in chrome; on the towel rail, roll holder, robe hook and door and screen hardware the chrome look is polished 304 stainless steel.

Living with chrome

Chrome is hard-wearing, but water spots show on it, so dry it after use if you have hard water. Warm soapy water and a soft cloth is all it needs; abrasive pads scratch it and acid or chlorine cleaners damage it. If you want silver without the spotting, brushed nickel is the softer alternative.

Basin mixer tap: chrome Vienna and Milano

For a bench basin, the Vienna Short stands 175 mm with 75 mm under the spout; for a basin on top of the bench, the Vienna Tall stands 305 mm with 200 mm. The Milano wall spout and mixer takes the tap off the bench with a 192 mm spout. All three are Lead Free WaterMark certified and rated WELS 5 Star at 6.0 L/min.

Chrome shower mixer and showers

The Cannes chrome shower mixer has a diverter, so one lever switches between two outlets, for example the Lyon ceiling head and the Versailles hand shower. Its plates are Ø65 mm for the mixer and Ø40 mm for the diverter, and the valve sits 55 to 85 mm into the wall. The Corsica rail set and Bordeaux wall arm come in chrome too.

Chrome shower door handle and screen fittings

The Corfu chrome shower door handle is a pair of back-to-back Ø30 mm knobs. With the Geneva glass-to-glass hinge, the Rennes glass-to-wall hinge and the Rhodes clamp, every fitting on a frameless screen can match the mixer; the hinges and clamp suit 8 to 12 mm toughened glass.

Kitchen, wastes and doors

The Como and Porto kitchen mixers, the Lisbon pop-up and Granada floor waste, and the Santorini lever with the Prague lock complete the set. Tapware finishes explained compares chrome with the other five, and caring for tapware finishes lists what to avoid.

Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty). Taps and showers must be installed by a licensed plumber for the warranty to apply.
