Oval mirror questions

Do these mirrors plug in, or do I need an electrician?

There’s no plug. Every LED mirror here is hardwired, so a licensed electrician connects it to a 220–240 V supply on the wall behind the mirror. Ask for the supply near the centre of where the mirror will hang, and if you’re renovating, settle that before the wall is sheeted or tiled. Do LED mirrors need an electrician? explains the cable position.

How long does delivery take, and is it free?

Delivery is free Australia-wide. In-stock orders leave us within 1–2 business days, and most arrive 2–5 business days after dispatch; regional addresses can take a little longer.

Can I get a custom size or shape?

Yes. We make mirrors to any size and shape, and they take about 8 weeks. That includes an oval at a width we don’t stock. The price depends on the size and the features you choose. Send your measurements through our custom mirrors page and we’ll quote; we typically reply within 24 hours. Custom mirrors are made to order, so they can’t be returned for change of mind.

Are they safe in a bathroom?

Yes. Every Invogue mirror is rated IP44, which means it’s protected against splashing water. Because it’s hardwired, your licensed electrician confirms the position suits the bathroom zones and RCD protection under AS/NZS 3000. The zones depend on where your bath, shower and screens are, so mention them when you book.

Can it go on plasterboard or tiles?

Yes, as long as the fixings go into something solid: the studs or noggins behind plasterboard, or the masonry behind tiles. Plasterboard alone won’t hold it. All the fixings are in the box. If you’re building or renovating, ask your builder for a noggin where the mirror will hang. Replacing a builder’s mirror covers removal and fixing.

Oval LED mirrors and an oval mirror cabinet, from the 450mm-wide Riviera to the 1700mm-tall Palmero. Every model has three light colour settings and an anti-fog demister, in framed, frameless, backlit and front-lit styles.

Five ways to go oval

  • Tall and frameless: The Riviera (450 x 900mm or 600 x 1000mm) and Riviera Ambient (600 x 1000mm), both vertical ovals with backlighting.
  • Teardrop: The Portofino, a 700 x 900mm teardrop-inspired oval and the widest in the range.
  • Framed: The Framed Rivera (600 x 900mm) and The Valencia (600 x 1000mm), both with a slim metal frame.
  • Full-length: The Palmero, a 600 x 1700mm backlit oval for a bedroom, dressing area or walk-in robe.
  • With storage: The Riviera Cabinet, a pill-shaped LED mirror cabinet.

What size oval mirror suits your vanity?

We generally recommend the largest size that's no wider than your vanity. When in doubt, size up, if the space allows it; if a side wall, tiles or the door make it tight, go one size down. Centre it on the vanity rather than the wall, with 100–200mm between the top of the tap (or splashback) and the bottom of the glass, never less than 100mm (see our vanity sizing guide). Here is how each oval lines up against that recommendation.

Model Size (W x H) Lighting Suits vanities of
The Riviera 450 x 900mm / 600 x 1000mm Backlit 450mm and wider / 600mm and wider
Riviera Ambient 600 x 1000mm Backlit 600mm and wider
The Portofino 700 x 900mm Backlit 700mm and wider
Framed Rivera 600 x 900mm Front-lit 600mm and wider
The Valencia 600 x 1000mm Full-edge LED 600mm and wider
Riviera Cabinet 450 x 1000mm / 450 x 1150mm, 118mm deep Front-lit 450mm and wider
The Palmero 600 x 1700mm Backlit Full-length mirror, not for over a vanity

Torn between two sizes? Choose the larger one, as long as it stays inside the edges of the benchtop. For mounting height, see how high to hang a bathroom mirror.

Backlit or front-lit oval?

Backlit models (the Riviera, Riviera Ambient, Portofino and Palmero) glow from behind the glass, so the mirror looks like it is floating off the wall. The Framed Rivera and Riviera Cabinet are front-lit. Framed or frameless?

The Riviera, Riviera Ambient, Portofino and Palmero are frameless: just glass and light. The Framed Rivera has a brushed aluminium frame in Gold, Silver, Black or Gunmetal. The Valencia has a pencil-thin stainless steel frame in Matte Black, Antique Brass, Brushed Brass or Brushed Nickel, the same four finish names used across our tapware range, so the mirror frame and basin mixer can match. Oval mirror or oval mirror cabinet?

If the bathroom is short on storage, the Riviera Cabinet keeps the oval look and adds a cupboard behind it. It is 450mm wide, comes in 1000mm or 1150mm heights and is 118mm deep. Inside are adjustable shelves, a mirrored back panel, soft-close hinges and an IP-rated 10 A outlet in the top section for charging a shaver or toothbrush. It can be surface-mounted or recessed into the wall. Still deciding? Read mirror cabinet or bathroom mirror, or compare every mirror cabinet.

Oval or round?

A round mirror is usually sized close to the full width of the vanity. A vertical oval is narrower for its height, so it fits a slim vanity and pulls the eye up the wall. If you are weighing up shapes, compare our round mirrors and arch mirrors, or read the bathroom mirror shape guide.

What every oval includes

  • Three light colour settings, from warm to cool, with dimming
  • An anti-fog demister, so the glass is clear straight after a shower
  • Touch controls on the glass
  • Copper-free mirror glass and LEDs rated up to 50,000 hours
  • Bluetooth audio on every oval except the Riviera Ambient

Delivery is free Australia-wide. Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days, and mirror cabinets can take a little longer because they travel as bulkier freight.
