BEFORE YOU BUY

How to choose a waste

Three products, three jobs. Check these before you order.

Granada: floor waste

A tile insert grate, 100 × 100 mm, with an 82 × 82 mm insert for tiles up to 10 mm thick. The outlet is a 45 mm spigot.

Lisbon: basin waste

A pop-up waste for basins without an overflow, in a 45 mm waste hole and a basin 25 to 50 mm thick. Outlet 32 mm (1¼″ BSP).

Firenze: bottle trap

Tidies the pipework under a wall-hung basin. 330 mm wall arm on a 32 mm pipe, with a 70 mm wall flange.

Match the finish

All three come in the six tapware finishes, with brass bodies, so the drain, waste and trap match the taps.

Waste and trap questions

What is better, a P-trap or a bottle trap?

Both hold a water seal that stops drain smells. A P-trap is usually hidden inside a cabinet; a bottle trap is more compact and looks tidier where it's on show, such as under a wall-hung basin.

What size is a basin waste?

Ours are 32 mm: the Lisbon has a 32 mm (1¼″ BSP) outlet and the Firenze wall arm suits a Ø32 mm pipe.

Will the floor waste suit my tiles?

The Granada takes tiles up to 10 mm thick in its 82 × 82 mm insert, so the grate almost disappears into the floor. Thicker tiles or stone need a different waste.

Which waste do I need for my basin?

Check for an overflow hole first. The Lisbon suits basins without one; under a wall-hung basin, add the Firenze bottle trap so the pipework looks finished.

Who installs wastes and traps?

A licensed plumber, to AS/NZS 3500. All three carry WaterMark licence WM-040211 (AS 1589), shown on each product page.

A bottle trap for basin pipework that's on show

Under a wall-hung basin the trap is in plain sight, so it may as well match the mixer. The Firenze is a bottle trap for basin wastes that sit 65 to 300 mm from the wall and 45 to 135 mm below the basin. Its brass trap body is Ø50 × 125 mm, the 330 mm wall arm suits a Ø32 mm pipe, and a Ø70 mm flange covers the hole in the wall.

Bottle trap for sink or basin: why the shape

A bottle trap holds its water seal in a short cylinder rather than a U-bend, which keeps it compact and close to the wall. If you're after a bottle trap for sink pipework, note that ours is sized for a basin waste, so check the waste position figures above first.

Pop-up waste for basins without an overflow

The Lisbon pop-up waste fits a Ø45 mm basin hole in a basin 25 to 50 mm thick, with a Ø66 mm cap and a 32 mm (1¼″ BSP) outlet. It's made for basins without an overflow; a basin with an overflow needs a slotted waste, which we don't sell. How to choose a basin waste walks through the choice.

Floor waste with a tile insert

The Granada floor waste takes your own tile, up to 10 mm thick, in an 82 × 82 mm insert, so only a thin frame of the finish shows around the 100 × 100 mm grate. It has a Ø45 mm spigot outlet and is 56 mm deep; your plumber needs both figures before the floor is set out. Thicker tile or stone needs a different waste.

Matching and fitting

Each waste comes in the same six finishes as our basin mixers and showers. On a wall-hung vanity the mixer, pop-up and trap are all in view at once, so a chrome trap under a black or brass tap is the mismatch people notice. All three have brass bodies and WaterMark licence WM-040211 to AS 1589, and a licensed plumber installs them to AS/NZS 3500. The order of trades shows when the shower outlet goes in during a renovation.

Clean the grate, cap and trap the way you clean the taps: warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Keep acid and chlorine drain cleaners off the visible metal, because they damage the finish.

Every product here has the same cover: 15 years on the body, 7 years on cartridges, valves and moving parts, 3 years on the finish and 2 years on washers, seals and O-rings (tapware warranty).
