COMPARE THE FINISHES

Brushed Gunmetal or another finish?

How brushed gunmetal compares with the finishes people usually look at next, and what it’s like to live with.

Gunmetal or matte black?

Matte black is flat and solid, the strongest contrast against white tiles. Gunmetal is softer, with a metallic sheen, and hides water marks better. See matte black.

Gunmetal or brushed nickel?

Both have the same brushed texture. Brushed nickel is a light, slightly warm silver; gunmetal is a deep grey. Nickel keeps a room light; gunmetal gives the tapware more presence. See brushed nickel.

Looking after it

Wipe it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry it. Acid, chlorine and abrasive cleaners damage any finish, and that damage isn’t covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Matching the whole room

Every design comes in brushed gunmetal, so the mixer, shower, waste, towel rail and door handle can all match. No mirror frame is made in brushed gunmetal; a frameless mirror is the safest pairing.

Brushed Gunmetal questions

Is gunmetal tapware good?

It's a practical dark finish: it hides water marks better than matte black. Under it, our taps have DZR brass bodies and Citec ceramic cartridges, with a 15-year body warranty.

Does gunmetal tarnish?

Look after it and it keeps its colour: clean it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry it. Acid, chlorine and abrasives damage the finish and aren't covered by the 3-year finish warranty.

Is there a gunmetal kitchen tap?

Two: the Como, a swivel-spout mixer with 220 mm of reach, and the Porto pull-out, which needs 150–500 kPa. Both fit a Ø35 mm tap hole.

What is the difference between gunmetal and brushed nickel?

Both are brushed, but gunmetal is a deep grey and brushed nickel a soft silver. Choose nickel for a light, quiet room and gunmetal when you want the tapware to stand out a little.

Brushed gunmetal or matte black?

Gunmetal is softer than black and better at hiding water marks; matte black is flat and solid, the strongest contrast against white.

Gunmetal tapware: deep grey with a brushed sheen

Our gunmetal tapware is a deep grey with a brushed metallic sheen. It's darker than nickel and softer than matte black, and it hides water marks better than black does, which makes it a practical dark finish for a shower. It suits concrete, warm timber or stone when black feels too heavy, and all 24 of our designs come in it.

Gunmetal taps for the basin and the sink

Pick the Vienna Tall (305 mm, for a basin on the bench) or the Vienna Short (175 mm, for a basin in it), or go to the wall with the Milano wall mixer and spout set. At the sink, the Como swivels 360° with 220 mm of reach and the Porto pull-out reaches 226 mm. The Porto needs 150 to 500 kPa and the rest run from 50 to 800 kPa. The Vienna, Milano and Como models are Lead Free WaterMark certified.

Brushed gunmetal door handles and locks

The Santorini lever and Prague lock bring the grey to the internal doors, and Venezia butt hinges, 102 × 76 × 3 mm and sold individually, finish the edge. All three are 304 stainless steel.

Choosing gunmetal door handles for the house

Grey handles work on white, grey and timber doors without the hard contrast of black. The Santorini and Prague suit doors 30 to 42 mm thick with a 60 mm backset; measure yours first, as that covers most internal doors but not every one.

Gunmetal bathroom accessories and shower fittings

The Provence 600 mm towel rail, Lille roll holder and Copenhagen hook come in gunmetal, as do the Corfu knobs, the Geneva and Rennes hinges and the Rhodes clamp for the screen. Overhead, the Corsica rail set or Lyon head, run from the Cannes diverter, completes it.

Care

Look after it and brushed gunmetal keeps its colour: warm soapy water, a soft cloth, then dry. Underfoot and under the basin, the Granada floor waste and Firenze bottle trap match the taps, and the Lisbon pop-up suits a basin without an overflow. Tapware finishes explained shows gunmetal beside black and nickel.
